GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Football has earned two Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week accolades for their effort in the win over Millsaps College last Saturday. Jason Lund, a senior defensive end from Azle, Texas and Jaylen Spriggs, a freshman quarter back from Fort Worth, Texas, have been named defensive and offensive players of the week for week ten.
Lund had a career-high four sacks for twenty-three yards against Millsaps while also recording five tackles for loss for forty-three yards. In addition, The senior forced two fumbles which the Pirates recovered, one being a sack fumble. Lund was part of a defense that held Millsaps to just thirteen points in the game with a school record eight forced turnovers on the way to the 42-13 win over the Majors.
Spriggs accounted for five touchdowns in the win, the dual-threat quarterback ran for three touchdowns on six carries, totaling twenty-seven yards on the ground while completing 12-of-20 through the air for 162 yards and another two touchdowns.
