Southwestern quarterback Landry Gilpin won his second American Southwest Conference (ASC) Offensive Player of the Week award of the season after the Pirates' 45-19 victory over the Austin College Kangaroos.
Gilpin directed the Southwestern offense to four touchdowns in its first four possessions and a season-high 555 yards of total offense. The third-year quarterback from Mission, Texas, was efficient with his arm, completing 18-of-27 passes with no turnovers for 297 yards and tying his career-high with four touchdown passes. He was also in designed runs and scrambles, rushing 17 times for 112 yards with a touchdown.
For the season, Gilpin has thrown for 1,203 yards, and 13 touchdowns in addition to 496 rushing yards on 106 carries with three touchdowns.
Southwestern is 2-6 this season with a 2-5 conference record. Next Saturday, the Pirates will travel to Seguin, Texas, to play Texas Lutheran University at 1:00 p.m.
