GEORGETOWN - For the first time in the young history of the Southwestern University football program, a student-athlete was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Representing District 8, sophomore defensive back Hayden Smith earned the nod on the team with an impressive 3.88 GPA in Physics.

Along with excellent work in the classrom, Smith had a breakout year on the field, finishing fifth on the team with 47 tackles including five tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception in eight games. 

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
