Petrillo was an all-district quarterback at MacArthur High School. He was also named team MVP for the Pirates in 2012. He was a member of the track and field team as well.

Tyler is the son of Stephen Petrillo and Tiwana White. He plans to major in kinesiology at Southwestern.
