Cru slip by Pirates in overtime, 110-108

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern relinquished a 15-point, second-half lead and ultimately fell 110-108 to Mary Hardin-Baylor at home Monday night.

  • The Pirates were lights out in the first half, shooting 53.3% from beyond the arc and took a six point lead, 49-43, into the locker room.
  • Connor Kim had an impressive 19 points in the first 20 minutes of action, going 7-12 from the field and 4-6 from three point range.
  • SU started strong in the second half, quickly extending their lead to 15, but the Cru continued to battle back, eventually tying the game at 100 with 23 seconds to play to force overtime.
  • With the momentum on their side UMHB took their first lead since 3:40 remaining in the first half, on the opening shot of overtime to lead 102-100
  • Ryan Ogden's free throw tied the game 108-108 with 21 seconds remaining. UMHB's Daniel Mills, who was hot all second half, sealed the Pirates' fate with a baseline jumper with just seconds left on the clock.
