Three Pirates earn All-SCAC honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Headlined by Second Team All-SCAC selection Michael Cantu, Southwestern had three players earn all-conference honors for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Cantu earned his second consecutive second team selection by averaging 10.4 points per game, tied for 16th in the conference, and was sixth in the SCAC in steals with 35 on the season. He shot 44.6% from the floor on the season and 29.6% from three point range while averaging 3.6 rebounds per game.

Chase Kocher earned an Honorable Mention selection after being named to the Third Team last season. Kocher is 23rd in the conference in scoring, averaging 8.6 points per game while shooting 47.7% from the floor and 36.4% from three point range. However, Kocher is most likely best known for his outstanding defense as he was eighth in the conference with 33 steals. He was also in the top ten in turnovers with 55 on the year.

Blake Scott joins Kocher as an Honorable Mention selection, his first post season honor. Scott had a breakout year in the post, averaging 8.9 points per game while shooting 50.6% from the floor. His shooting percentage put him fifth in the SCAC while his 52 offensive rebounds was second best in the conference and just six behind league leader, Wyatt of the University of Dallas.

The Pirates ended their season at 8-18 after a 74-71 loss to Centenary College in the SCAC Quarterfinals.
