First half struggles sink Pirates

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Southwestern hit just seven field goals for 20 first half points and couldn't bounce back, falling 74-57 to Colorado College on Friday. 

Colorado College scored on the opening tip, but it was Southwestern that built an early lead 7-2 in the first two minutes of the game. The Pirates' offense then went cold, however, as it took nearly 10 minutes to score their next points.

The Pirates were down 38-20 at halftime and their offensive woes continued at the beginning of the second half as the Tigers extended their lead to 24.

Southwestern was never able to make a substantial headway on the deficiet as they fell 74-57. 

The Pirates shot 37.7% from the floor and was led by Sean Myers' 16 points while Josh Tates added in 11 off the bench. CC was led by Ryan Milne's 17 points while shooting 49% from the floor and 38.1% from long range. SU was also dominated on the boards 44-27 and were -2 in turnovers. 

Southwestern falls to 5-11 on the year and 2-4 in the SCAC while Colorado improves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the SCAC. SU remains on the road to face the University of Dallas on Sunday.
