Southwestern University Pirates baseball's Daniel Montgomery was named to the D3Baseball.com 2020 Preseason All-America First Team.

Montgomery was a D3Baseball.com Second Team All-American last year, the program's first since Will Cates earned honorable mention honors in 2015. Last year, Montgomery finished among the SCAC leaders in every major offensive category.

In the 2019 season, Montgomery finished first in the SCAC in runs scored (48), triples (four), and home runs (nine); second in doubles (15), total bases (110), on-base percentage (.485), and slugging percentage (.667); third in hits (60) and RBIs (45); and fourth in batting average (.364). For his efforts, Montgomery was named the Southwestern University Dr. Tex Kassen Male Athlete of the Year.

Southwestern opens its baseball season with a three-game series against Sul Ross State from Friday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 15 with a doubleheader on the second day.
