SEGUIN, Texas - Kevin Wallace had two hits, including a solo home run, and drove in a pair to lead Southwestern to an 8-1 win over Texas Lutheran in Friday's series opener at Katt-Isbel Park.
The Pirates (19-18, 8-8 SCAC), who clinched a spot in next week's SCAC Championship, scored two runs in the first, two more in the fourth and used a four-run seventh to pull away.
Wallace led off the fourth inning with a solo homer, his first of the season. He added a run-scoring single in the seventh.
The Bulldogs (20-16, 11-5 SCAC) picked up their only run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.
Collin Buckley (3-0) earned the win in relief, as the right-hander allowed only one run in three frames.
The two teams will close out the series Saturday with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
