Pirates Bats Quieted by Crusaders

The Pirates' struggles continued as they fell to the Crusaders 6-0 on Sunday afternoon.  The game was scoreless for the first five innings until UD broke the ice and scored six runs over the next three innings.

UD's first run came in the bottom of the sixth, when McRoberts hit a RBI single to right center.  In the seventh, Pierce doubled to the shortstop, and brought home Farris and Carlson. The Crusaders added three more runs in the eighth to sweep the series at home and improve to 8-6 on the season and 5-1 in the conference.  Southwestern fell to 1-13 on the season and is 0-6 in conference play.

Joshua Crapps earned the win, putting him at 3-0 this season. The save went to Martin Cronin and Matt Litz goes to 0-3 on the year with the loss.

The Pirates will be on the road again next Saturday March 2nd, when they play a doubleheader versus their archival Trinity at 1:00pm.
