This year's total is the third-highest for a single period in the history of the award.

Shelton Steps Down as Head Baseball CoachMay 18, 2012GEORGETOWN, Texas - Jim Shelton has been a fixture in the coach’s box for the Southwestern baseball team, but after 19 years in the program has stepped down as the head coach. Shelton spent 11 seasons at the helm and was the assistant coach under Jim Mallon for eight years prior to being named head coach.

Senior infielder Nate Shipp earned an Honorable Mention selection.

39 Student-Athletes Receive Senior Watches at Annual CeremonyApril 18, 2012GEORGETOWN, Texas - Thanks to the generous donations of parents, alumni and students in the Pirate Crew, Southwestern University's Booster Club, the Athletic Department was able to continue the tradition of awarding watches to senior athletes whom had completed eligibility while at SU. This is the third year for the ceremony.

The ‘Bucs rallied in the seventh inning to tie the score and extend the game. However, the Crusaders broke the stalemate in the bottom of the eleventh inning for the win.

Late Game Rallies Sink PiratesApril 14, 2012IRVING, Texas – Southwestern dropped two games in the double header on Saturday afternoon to the University of Dallas, 3-2 and 6-3. The Crusaders took the lead in the last inning in game one and broke out of a tie in the eighth inning to win game two.

The game saw grand slams from both clubs in the high scoring shootout. The War Hawks took advantage of early opportunities and held on to the lead for the victory.

Southwestern Wins Pair Against #1 TrinityApril 06, 2012GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Pirates defeated the Tigers 6-2 and 9-7 in Friday’s double header. Trinity entered the game ranked #1 in the country by D3Baseball.com before Southwestern handed them their first two conference losses on the year. It was the first time Trinity has lost in back to back games all season. Southwestern played disciplined baseball and capitalized on opportunities when they had them to earn the victories.

Southwestern University Mourns the Loss of a LegendFebruary 27, 2012GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University mourns the passing of baseball coaching legend, Coach Jim Mallon. Mallon, 67, passed away Sunday afternoon following complications from heart surgery. Services for Coach Mallon will be held on the campus of Southwestern University at Rockwell Field on Saturday, March 3 at 2pm. There will be a reception with light refreshments immediately following the service in the Robertson Center.
