Swim & Dive Recognized for Classroom Success by CSCAA

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Southwestern Pirates swimming team's academic prowess earned recognition by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Southwestern joins 712 other teams in receiving the prestigious honor by achieving a 3.34 cumulative GPA for the men and 3.53 cumulative for the women.

The men were ranked 37 in Division III for the highest team GPA out of 118 schools. They also ranked second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) teams, with Colorado College at 10, Austin College at 112 and Trinity University at 114. The women ranked 37 out of 171 schools and came out with the highest GPA in the SCAC, with Colorado at 45, Trinity University at 121 and Austin College at 129.

To earn the honor, teams were required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the Fall Semester and maintain a roster of 12 or more student-athletes. 

Members of the CSCAA Scholar All-America Committee include Paul Richards, Chair (Dickinson), Brent Summers (Willamette), Gwynn Harrison (Bridgewater), Hollie Bonewit-Cron (Miami-OH), Jason Hite (Indianapolis), Jonathan Jordan (Lincoln College), Jerod Simek (Truman State), Milania Socha (Dartmouth), Nikki Rosen (Davis & Elkins), RC Weston (Alfred State).

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America – is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
