Women Compete in Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - During their first long road trip of the year, the Southwestern women's cross country team ran in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival 8k early  Saturday morning.

There were 352 runners that included Division I, II and III schools for the PIrates to compete against.  

Emma Pertuit finished first for the Southwestern women runners with a time 21:09 and an average pace of 6:48 a mile. Lauren Calzado finished with a time 24:09 and an average pace of 7:46.

Coach Steven Carry was pleased with the showing.
 
"Really proud of the ladies today," He said. "Emma improved a great deal from the first meet of the season. Thought our women competed well and ran strong in the second half. We'll take this and keep plugging away towards the conference meet next month."

Up next, the Pirates will host the Pirate Invitational in Georgetown, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 8 a.m.
