MARSHALL, Texas - The Southwestern University women's cross country team placed sixth with 142 points at the East Texas Baptist Invitational on Saturday morning at the Marshall City Arena.
Texas-Dallas won the event with 58 points followed by McMurry with 69 points and Texas-Tyler with 71 points. Austin College placed fourth with 99 points while LeTourneau rounded out the top five with 131 points.
Freshman Sofia Garcia led the Pirates with a seventh place finish, good for a time of 24:45.8 and an average mile time of 6:39.4. Junior Trinh Ha placed 20th with a time of 25:51.2 in the 6k.
Sophomore Katie Harris finished with a time of 27:02.1 while junior Morgan Forteith and freshman Kate Killian rounded out the scorers for SU with times of 28:33.4 and 29:08.6, respectively.
Southwestern will return for their home event on Friday as they will host the Southwestern Invitational at Berry Springs Park beginning at 5:30 PM.
