GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern freshman Sofia Garcia placed second overall to lead the Pirates Women's Cross Country team to a team title in the Pirate Opener Friday evening at San Gabriel Park.

Garcia finished second overall, behind Concordia's Emily Villines, with a time of 21:45.02. The rest of the Pirates team finished in fourth through seventh place as the Pirates came away with 24 points to Concordia's 31.

Fourth place was junior Trinh Ha with a time of 23:45.38 followed by Katie Harris at 24:14.28, freshman Kate Killian at 24:26.37, and junior Morgan Forteith at 24:49.85.

The Pirates will be back in action on Saturday, September 16th as they travel to Seguin for the TLU Invitational. Race time is set for 9 a.m.
