Duarte closes career at NCAA Championships

HANOVER, Ind. – Senior Lilly Duarte finished her senior season Saturday at the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships.

Duarte was able to finish in the top 250 of the nation in a field of nearly 300 runners. The senior covered the 6k course in a time of 23:56.6 with was just over two minutes off the pace of the individual winner.

The Streetman, Texas native closes her career out as one of the most decorated runners at Southwestern holding both cross country 5k and 6k records. She also was just the second Pirate ever to race at the NCAA National Championships, a first after earning all-region honors last weekend.

Chelsea Johnson of St. Scholastica was the individual winner as Johns Hopkins claimed the team title.
