Volleyball Defeats Austin College in Three Sets

KERRVILLE, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates opened up its weekend of conference play with a win in three sets over the Austin College Kangaroos (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) in the first first of two games on Saturday. 

Three Pirates finished with double-digit kills in three sets and Southwestern hit .230 as a team, taking a 45-30 edge in kills while holding Austin College to a .132 hitting percentage. 

  • Senior Landri Brown reached double-digit kills for a second consecutive game with 10 on a .231 hitting percentage and assisted on two blocks for 11 points. 

  • Emma White showed her work on offense and defense, recording double-digit digs for the eighth consecutive game with 17 and leading the team with 12 kills (.212). 

  • Riley Brantley was the Pirates' most efficient player, blistering Austin College with 10 kills on a .474 hitting percentage and two block assists. 

  • Lauren Crabtree continues to work as the team's primary setter, leading the team with 34 assists. 

With the win, the Pirates improved to 12-6 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The Pirates played JWU in the day's second match.
