Volleyball Voted Third in SCAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

The Southwestern University Pirates volleyball team was voted third in the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Pirates received 81 votes, trailing Colorado College (98 votes, eight first-place votes) and Trinity University (90 votes, two first-place votes). 

Last season, the Pirates finished 18-12 with a 12-4 conference record, making a run through the conference tournament and advancing to the SCAC championship match after upsetting Trinity 3-1 in the conference semifinals. Southwestern lost to Colorado College 3-2 in the championship match. 

Southwestern will compete in three scrimmages this weekend, facing Angelo State and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday and the Southwestern University alumni team on Saturday. The Pirates' season opens on Friday, August 30 with the Southwestern University Volleyball Fall Invitational. For the entire SCAC coaches' poll press release, click here
