LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern remained undefeated as they opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 record over the weekend, thanks in large part to the heavy hitting of Kate Mitchell, who earned conference offensive player of the week honors.
Mitchell, a right-side/outside hitter from Roseville, Calif., led the Pirates offensively with 38 kills and just seven errors through 10 sets. She posted an impressive .333 hitting percentage including .469 against Trinity in San Antonio.
Seventh-ranked Southwestern went 4-0 on the week and dropped just one set to improve to 12-0 on the year. The Bucs return home to face St. Thomas on Wednesday evening before heading back into conference play in Sherman to take on No. 4 Colorado College in addition to Centenary, Dallas and Austin College.
