Lentz and Foster earn AVCA Region honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Chandler Lentz and sophomore Katie Foster both earned AVAC All-South Region honors as announced by the organization Friday morning.

As the Pirate volleyball team readies to open NCAA Regional action in San Antonio, Lentz continues to add more accolades to her resume earning AVCA All-South Region honors. The San Antonio native has been outstanding defensively for the Pirates leading the team in digs with 673 on the season and averaged 4.95 per set. The honor is the first for Lentz who is a two-time All-SCAC honoree.

Foster, a sophomore outside hitter was named AVCA All-South Region Honorable Mention for the first time in her career as she also earned All-SCAC honors last week. Also a San Antonio native, Foster finished in the top three of the SCAC in kills and led Southwestern with 336 on the season averaging 3.08 per set. She was also impressive on the defensive side of the floor finishing with 508 digs and 35 blocks on the year.

Lentz and Foster helped lead the Pirates to a ninth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance posting a 26-11 record. Southwestern finished third during the regular season, but reached the SCAC Championship match where they pushed league champion Trinity to a fifth set before falling, 3-2. The Pirates open NCAA Regional action at 2 p.m. against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
