Pirates close SCAC conference play with pair of 3-0 wins

SHERMAN, Texas - With 3-0 wins over Centenary College and Austin College on Sunday, Southwestern finished regular season SCAC action. The Pirates currently sit in third place with a 10-4 overall record.

Southwestern started strong with a .212 attack percentage against Centenary, but shockingly continued to improve, posting attack percentages of .429 and .346 in the final two sets. Their defense was outstanding as well as Centenary's hitting percentage steadily dropped throughout the match from .129 to .000 to -.040.

Olivia Drummond continued her dominating weekend with 13 kills to lead the Pirates. She had just three errors in 20 attempts to post a .500 attack percentage. Lorin Froetchel made the most of her touches with six kills and no errors on 10 attempts for a .600 attack percentage. Lacey Strickland led with 20 assists while Chandler Lentz posted 12 digs.

The Pirates closed the weekend against host school Austin College and picked up where they left off earlier in the day. Macey Pool led the charge with 14 kills while Nikki Welch had 25 assists and two kills on five attempts for a .400 attack percentage. Andie Alford led defensively with 18 digs.

Southwestern sits at 22-9 overall and close out the regular season at home this weekend, hosting the SCAC/ASC crossover beginning on Friday afternoon.
