LEXINGTON, Ky. - Led by 2009 SCAC Player-of-the-Year senior
outside hitter Audra Gentry of Southwestern University, the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference placed 11 players on AVCA
All-Region Teams, including eight First Team selections, in an
announcment made today.
SCAC champion Southwestern had four players earn recognition -
with all four receiving First Team All-South recognition. In
addition to Gentry, senior libero Samantha Lingamfelter, sophomore
setter Christina Nicholls and sophomore middle blocker Lindsay
Thompson were named First Team All-South Region.
Trinity University placed two players on the All-South Region
Team, led by First Team selection senior middle blocker Aly
Hazelwood. Senior middle blocker Ginger Haley was an Honorable
Mention pick.
Sophomore middle blocker Jessica Fleming of Austin College also
received Honorable Mention status in the South Region.
In the West Region, sophomore right side Meredith Ballard, senior
middle blocker Emily Perkins and sophomore setter Amy Schornack -
all of Colorado College - each were honored with First Team
selections.
In the Great Lakes Region, senior right side Katherine Larson of
DePauw University was named Honorable Mention.
