Women's track & field ends SCAC Championship in fourth place

SAN ANTONIO - The Southwestern women's track & field squad placed fourth at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday.

The Pirates totaled 48 points during the two-day event.

Kelsey Faykus led Southwestern with 13 points during the weekend meet. She was runner-up in the discus throw. Faykus also placed fourth in the shot put and sixth in the hammer throw.

Hannah Bruce chipped in with a dozen points in the throwing events. She turned in a pair of third-place performances, including a program mark in the hammer throw (36.79m/120-8).

Jalynn Ashley scored eight points with fourth-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump. She also shattered the program record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.56 seconds.

Southwestern's relay teams posted season-best times during the final day of competition, as the Pirates placed fourth in both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays.
