Pirates sit in third place at SCAC Championships after day one

SEGUIN, Texas – Through six events at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Southwestern women's track and field team sits in third place with 30 points.

The Pirates received 18 of their points in the hammer throw after capturing second through fourth places.

Kimi Prevost set a program record and finished runner-up with a toss of 35.49m. Molly Campbell placed third with a mark of 32.95m, while Kelsey Faykus finished fourth with a distance of 30.66m.

Southwestern also logged six points in the triple jump.

Tori Carraway's leap of 10.15m was good for fourth place, while Marissa Morin reached a distance of 9.96m to finish fifth.

Prevost also picked up six points in the shot put with a third-place finish after heaving the implement 10.36m.

Trinity holds the lead in the team standings with 72 points. The Tigers are followed by Texas Lutheran (58) and the Pirates. Colorado College sits in fourth place with 18 points, while Dallas is in fifth with five points.

The event is scheduled to resume on Saturday morning.
