Two school records lead Pirates at Marc Randle Classic

BULLARD, Texas – The Southwestern women's track and field team continued its outdoor season Friday at the Marc Randle Classic, hosted by Texas-Tyler.

Reigning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Field Athlete of the Week Kimi Prevost was runner-up in the shot put with a school-record heave of 10.47m. Prevost also finished second in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 30.01m.

Additionally, Tori Carraway won the triple jump with a leap of 10.85m. Carraway, who was making her collegiate debut, also finished runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles (16.9) and sixth in the long jump (4.72m).

Southwestern racked up 19 points in the triple jump, as three athletes finished among the top five.

Marissa Morin and Noorie Han joined Carraway in the top five. Morin hit a mark of 9.66m, which was good for fourth place, while Han's jump of 9.55m allowed her to finish fifth.

Kelsey Boyd posted a school record and placed third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.82.

Molly Campbell also turned in a third-place finish in the hammer throw. Campbell launched the implement 27.36m.

Kelsey Faykus, who also was competing in her first collegiate meet, finished runner-up in the discus throw with a mark of 29.70m.

The Pirates will return to action on Friday, March 25, at the McMurry War Hawk Classic in Abilene.
