Track & Field opens season at Tarleton Relays

Southwestern was finally able to open the 2015 season, competing against upper level competition at the Tarleton Relays Friday.

SU had their strongest showing on the track in the 800. Brianna Timourian took fourth for the women with a time of 2:25.56 and Paden Williams finished in sixth in 1:59.56 in the men's edition.

In field events, Maya Adighibe had the highest field finish of any Pirate, snagging 8th in the hammer with a throw of 34.80 meters. Ellie Enis finished in ninth in the event with a toss of 34.08. Tyler Adams finished in tenth for the men in the event, 26.89 meters.

Kyle Castilleja brought home a top ten finish in the long jump, finishing ninth with a jump 5.74 meters. Anna Hugel had a ninth place finish of her own in the discus with a throw of 26.30 meters.

Jeremy Snyder finished in 10th in the javelin (34.54), Kimi Prevost 11th in the shot put (9.31 meters) and Will Devine 11th in the shot (11.83 meters).

Southwestern next heads to the Trinity Tiger Invitational in San Antonio on March 27th
