Women's Tennis Defeats LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas — Southwestern women's tennis posted a shutout victory over LeTourneau, winning 9-0 on the road. 

Alli Ziehm and Taylor Despriet opened the match with an 8-0 win over Brandy Weems and Amber Van Duyn in No. 3 doubles. Esther Bowers and Mariana Quetzeri bested Bailey Deatherage and Summer Apostalo 8-2 in No. 1 doubles. Nina Mitrofanova and Emma Kesterson secured the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Sierra Giesen and Julia Miller.

"Another match, another three new doubles teams that haven't played together this season in the position we put them in," head coach Billy Porter said. "We took care of business in all three spots."

Emma Kesterson opened singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Apostalo in the No. 3 spot. Bowers clinched with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Giesen in No. 2 singles. Mitroanova won 2-6, 6-0 over Deatherage in No. 1 singles. Nina Elez defeated Julia Miller 6-1, 6-0 in No. 5 singles. Marian Quetzeri closed the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Mimi Samdi in No. 6 singles. 

"Emma had great energy in singles and thought it really helped the girls get through their matches," Porter said. "Mariana has been getting some singles reps as of late and is winning the way we know she can."
