The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named Southwestern University Pirates' first year Alli Ziehm and junior Mariana Quetzeri the Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Sunday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, March 1.
Ziehm and Quetzeri made their debut as a team over the weekend, winning both their matches from the No. 3 spot in the Pirates' two shutout victories.
The duo opened Saturday's matches with an 8-1 victory over LeTourneau's Samantha Trevino and Sierra Giesen. Later in the day, they defeated McMurry's Kiara Jones and Mandy Roberson 8-2.
The No. 22-ranked Pirates have taken four of the five SCAC Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week award this season, including three consecutive awards, with Ziehm and Taylor Despriet winning the previous week.
Southwestern is 6-1 this season, including 1-1 against nationally-ranked teams. The Pirates will travel to Seguin on Friday, March 6 to face Texas Lutheran University (TLU) at 5:00 p.m.
