Women's Tennis Grabs 9-0 Win Over Howard Payne
GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Southwestern women's tennis battled through weather issues and came through to beat Howard Payne University  9-0 this Saturday afternoon.

Coach Billy Porter was pleased with the girl's results, saying, "Women came out ready to go after a four-hour delay which was nice to see them dialed in."

Regardless of time delays, the women pushed through and gained more victories to add to their season. The Pirates were able to win all of their doubles matches with  Mary Cardone and Mariana Quetzeri, who won 8-0, and Nina Elez with Chandler Vrba winning 8-0.  Esther Bowers, partnered with Cecile Wilde, also won in doubles 8-2.

The Pirates swept all singles matches from the Yellow Jackets,  including Stephanie Bartusov and Isabel Candelario who were able to win both sets 6-0. "Isabel got herself another big win at #6 today and a match she needed," says Porter.

Meeshti Shethia, Bowers, Wilde and Vrba were also able to win their singles matches to help give Southwestern the 9-0 win.

Up next, women's tennis has a week to prepare to play at home again next Saturday, March 9, against Occidental. Matches will start at 11:00 a.m.
