SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern Pirates Isabel Candelario and Stephanie Bartusov captured the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest "B" in Women's Doubles at Trinity this past weekend.
Bartusov also competed in women's singles flight B and won in that final 6-2, 6-1. Candelario and Bartusov defeated Marlee Daniel and Katie Smith of Schreiner in the first game. Then the Pirates moved forward in the second match against Morgan Parnell and Briana Perez from McMurry University, where they were able to take the match to progress into the final match against Elania Evans and Alexis Popovich of Concordia University. In a hard-fought match, Candelario and Bartusov were victorious and claimed their place as the champs for flight B Consolation. 8-4
Up next, the Pirates will play their next fall tournament at the ITA Cup, Oct. 10-13, in Rome, Georgia.
