Southwestern lands three on All-SCAC team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. ‐ In exclusive voting by the head coaches in the league Southwestern University's Mary Cardone, Anna Schneemann and Esther Bowers were named All-SCAC athletes this season. 

Cardone had a strong sophomore season, posting a 17-5 overall record at #1 singles. Cardone went 4-0 at the Ojai and posted wins over regionally ranked opponents all season. Cardone also partnered up with Schneeman for #1 doubles play and went 15-6 this season. Cardone, a sophomore from San Antonio, was the SCAC Newcomer and Player of the Year last season and this is her second consecutive All-SCAC honor. Cardone was ranked ninth in the region in both singles and doubles in the lastest ITA Regional Rankings. 

Schneeman played at #3 singles for her junior year, going 16-4 in singles action this season. Schneeman advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship in the fall and closed the season on another high note, advancing to the semifinals at the Ojai Valley Tournament before falling to Cardone. 

Bowers kicked off her freshman campaign with an ITA All-America selection in the fall after winning doubles at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship. Bowers went 10-5 while competing at #4 singles this spring. 

Also named in the report was senior Nicole Wilson who was an honorable mention selection for the third consecutive year.

Southwestern women's tennis went 13-6 on the year, advancing to the SCAC Championship before falling to Trinity in the finals.
