#9 Wesleyan too strong for #23 Pirates

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The women's tennis team continued their spring break trip through California Friday, facing #9 Wesleyan. Southwestern was unable to take down the Cardinals, falling 9-0. 

Esther Bowers and Julie Swets held tough in #2 doubles before eventually falling 8-5.

In singles play the Pirates were able to compete the best at #3-#6. Anna Schneeman (#3), Bowers (#4), Mariana Quetzeri (#5) and Cecile Wilde (#6) held their own on the court before eventually dropping their respective matches. 

"We faced another national championship contender today and continue to learn from these matches to prepare us for late April tennis," said Head Coach Billy Porter. 

Southwestern will take on their toughest opponent to date in their final match of the trip, facing #2 Williams College on Sunday at noon CST.
