CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Mary Cardone will open play in the NCAA Championship Round of 32 at 8 a.m. (CT) Thursday against Bowdoin's Tess Trinka at The Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park.

Cardone qualified for the singles bracket after posting a 20-0 record in her first collegiate campaign. The San Antonio native, who is the first player in program history to qualify for the national tournament, has won all 20 of her matches in straight sets.
Trinka, a junior from Oak Park, Ill., helped the Polar Bears to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship. In singles play, she has logged a 14-5 record this spring, mainly at the No. 2 position.
The singles bracket is single elimination and features the best of three sets. The Round of 16 also is scheduled to take place Thursday, while the quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played Friday, and the national championship match is slated for 10 a.m. Saturday.
