Southwestern defeats Colorado College, advances to title match

SAN ANTONIO - The 28th-ranked Southwestern women's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Colorado College in the semifinals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship at Al G. Hill Jr. Tennis Stadium.

The Pirates (20-2) advance to the conference championship match against No. 16 Trinity at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Southwestern won all three doubles matches to grab the early advantage. The Pirates then picked up victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to clinch the contest.

Mary Cardone and Anna Schneemann wrapped up the match in singles competition, both winning in straight sets.
