Pirates net 18th consecutive victory, top McMurry on Thursday

ABILENE, Texas - The 26th-ranked Southwestern women's tennis team increased its win streak to 18 matches, as the Pirates rolled to an 8-1 decision against McMurry on Thursday.

Southwestern (18-1) won all three doubles points and claimed five of six singles matchups.

Maranda Kahl and Nicole Wilson stayed perfect at No. 3 doubles, as the duo posted an 8-1 win to improve to 19-0 this spring.

On the singles courts, the Pirates won all of the top five flights.

Mary Cardone also remained unbeaten in her first collegiate campaign, netting a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the top spot. The San Antonio native improved to 17-0 on the year, including a 6-0 mark at No. singles.

Meanwhile, Megan Hawkins registered the most impressive performance at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1 and 6-0.

The Pirates will take on Hardin-Simmons Friday in Abilene. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
