No. 39 Southwestern wins 11th straight match

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The 39th-ranked Southwestern women's tennis team pushed its winning streak to 11 matches, as the Pirates posted an 8-1 victory against Texas-Tyler on Friday night at the Marvin D. Henderson Tennis Courts.

Southwestern (11-1) captured two of three doubles points and then won all six singles matchups.

The doubles pairing of Maranda Kahl and Nicole Wilson remained unbeaten at the third position. The duo logged a 9-8 (7-4) win to improve to 12-0 on the year.

Mary Cardone also continued her dominance on the singles courts, as the first-year posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at the second spot. Cardone has won all 11 of her solo tilts this spring.

The Pirates will resume action Sunday against No. 25 Linfield. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
