Southwestern blanks Howard Payne, pushes win streak to three

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Southwestern women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Howard Payne on Friday evening at the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts.

The Pirates (3-1) won their third consecutive match and first at home this season.

Southwestern opened the match with strong performances on the doubles court, but excelled in singles competition.

Megan Hawkins rolled to a double-bagel win at No. 3 singles. Mary Cardone won 6-1, 6-0 at the second spot, while Emilie Moeller was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at the fifth position.

The Pirates will host Swarthmore in a non-conference tilt Monday, March 6. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
