Women's tennis handed 6-3 loss by St. Edward's in season opener

AUSTIN, Texas – The Southwestern women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback to St. Edward's in Friday night's season opener.

The Pirates (0-1) picked up a point in doubles play, as Maranda Kahl and Nicole Wilson earned an 8-6 win at the third spot.

Taite Drews-Jones and Mary Cardone both collected victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, for the Bucs.

Southwestern will face Birmingham-Southern in its home opener Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts.
