Pirates sweep Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday

BELTON, Texas – Southwestern's doubles teams continued to roll despite a slow start, as the Pirates picked up a 9-0 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center.

Southwestern (13-4), which pushed its win streak to eight, saw all three of its doubles pairings reach double digits in wins for the year.

Maranda Kahl and Nicole Wilson improved to 13-2 this spring after winning their eighth consecutive match at No. 3 doubles. The duo rolled to an 8-0 triumph over Hope Nash and Tara Pergande.

Taste Drews-Jones and Jessey Martinez remained even with Kahl and Wilson after pushing their record to 13-2, as the pair collected an 8-4 victory at the second position.

Emilie Moeller and Anna Schneemann picked up their 10th win as doubles partners, as the duo earned an 8-5 win at the top spot to complete the sweep.

Meanwhile, Moeller and Schneemann also were standouts in singles action, which the Pirates also swept.

Moeller logged a golden set in the first frame of her match. The sophomore from New Braunfels did not surrender a point in the first panel at No. 6 singles, en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Shannon Kelly.

Schneemann, who was tabbed the league's co-player of the week on Tuesday, earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at the second position.

Kahl ran her win streak to seven matches with a 6-3, 7-5 triumph at the fifth spot.

Southwestern will return home to host a pair of opponents on Saturday. The Pirates will face Texas A&M-Texarkana at 9 a.m. and McMurry at 5 p.m.
