Pirates sweep Willamette for third consecutive victory

SALEM, Ore. – The Southwestern women's tennis team won its third consecutive match after sweeping Willamette on Tuesday inside the Courthouse Tennis Center.

The Pirates (8-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after capturing all three doubles matchups.

Southwestern then cruised in singles play, winning all six singles tilts in straight sets.

Anna Schneemann stepped up to the top spot and posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Mikaela Smith. Julie Swets added a 6-1, 6-0 win at the second spot, while Jessey Martinez was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at the third position.

Nicole Wilson earned a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the fourth position. Emilie Moeller and Maranda Kahl both did not allow their opponents to to gain a game in either set. Moeller was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at the fifth spot, while Kahl earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

The Pirates will close out their Oregon road trip on Wednesday at Pacific. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CDT) in Forest Grove, Ore.
