Pirates topped by St. Catherine's

After a busy weekend the Southwestern women's tennis team had a quick turnaround, facing St. Catherine's at home on Monday.

SU found themselves in a hole quickly as St. Catherine's pulled out all three doubles matches. Maranda Kahl and Virginia Stofter had the best doubles outing in #3, falling 8-6 to Knoll/Duda.

The Wildcats started singles play strong and put the Pirates in an even deeper hole. Nicole Wilson got Southwestern on the right track with a three set win in #4 singles, 6-7, 6-4, 10-8. Kali Rose battled back after dropping the first set to win 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 in #5 singles.

Rose and Wilson were the only two Pirates to snag wins as the Pirates fell 7-2 to St. Kate's.

Southwestern, now 7-3 on the year, return to the road to face Hardin-Simmons and McMurry on Friday in Abilene.
