Women's Tennis Destroys Warriors at Home

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hendrix College never had a fighting chance on Sunday morning as the Pirate women's tennis team dominated the match to win 9-0. Southwestern never lost more than two games in any set and improves to 5-3 on the season with the win.

The Warriors were never in the contest as Southwestern took control right from the start. Jessica Gaines and Elyse Bigler (#1) and Aimee Blake and Victoria DeLeon (#2) both won their doubles matches 8-2 and after a #3 doubles forfeit by Hendrix the Pirates jumped on top 3-0.

Singles matches were much of the same as Southwestern controlled every aspect of the match. DeLeon (#1) took down Smashey 6-1, 6-0 and Bigler handled Schuler 6-2, 6-2 in #2 singles. Gaines dropped just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Archer in #3 singles. Blake took down Lovaas 6-1, 6-1 in the #4 slot and Kindall Hogenson easily defeated Rivera 6-1, 6-0. A #6 singles forfeit gave Southwestern the 9-0 win.

The Pirates return to action on Friday at home, facing Mary Hardin Baylor University before taking on SCAC opponents Trinity and Colorado College over the weekend in San Antonio.
