Women's Swimming Claims Victory Over Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates women's swimming and diving team defeated the Austin College Kangaroos 150-64 in a head-to-head meet. 

Southwestern opened with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, getting a sub-two minutes time from Megan Mick, Teresa Cropper, Brynn Stokes, and Catherine Hiebel at 1:59.16. 

After Austin College took the 1,000-yard freestyle, the Pirates bounced back to place the top three in the 200-yard freestyle, led by Emma Frey's 2:03.62. Alicia Peters (2:10.83) and Alexys Matcuk (2:12.89) followed. 

Jesse Stovall was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 25.21. Stovall also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.03. Natalie Gierat claimed victory in the 200-yard individual medley, scoring a 2:20.09, and in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.71.

In diving, Kyla Gorman placed first with a score of 166.50, besting Austin College's Nicole Massaro's 150.37. 

Danielle Perales won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.04, narrowly defeating teammate Riley Barlage, who scored a 1:06.78. 

The Pirates closed the event with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, getting a time of 1:44.07 from Frey, Rehgan Hartsell, Brielle Adolph, and Stovall. 

Southwestern will travel to Grapevine, Texas to compete tomorrow against Oklahoma Christian at noon.
