Women's Swimming Sets New School Records in Day Two of the SCAC Championship Meet

SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern University Pirates women's swimming and diving team moved up a spot in the standings at the SCAC Championship Meet after a series of school record-breaking performances.

Southwestern started the evening taking gold in the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Cara Chin, Jesse Stovall, Rehgan Hartsell, and Erika Dubros set a new school record with a time of 1:36.92, defeating standings leader Trinity University, who clocked in at 1:37.23.

Stovall, a first year from Nacogdoches, Texas, became the first Southwestern woman to win the 50 freestyle, setting a school record time of 23.79. Hartsell defended her 200 IM title from last year, topping the competition with a time of 2:08.84, setting another school record. Ashley Harmon finished second in the 500 freestyle, setting a school record with a time of 5:07.83.

The Pirates now sit in third place with a total score of 242, trailing second-place Colorado College (248) and conference leader Trinity University (314). Day Three of the SCAC Championships will include the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 400 medley relay.
