Hartsell Earns NCAA B Cut on Second Day of Trinity Invite

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Freshman Rehgan Hartsell earned a NCAA B Cut in the 100 breast on Saturday evening to lead the Southwestern University men's and women's swimming team at the Trinity Invitational at Palo Alto College. 

Hartsell set a NCAA B cut with an unbelievable time of 1:03.63 to place first in the event. It was also a new Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record as well as a school record. Hartsell was not done on the evening, placing first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.71.

Senior Taylor Adams placed fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:49.03 while junior Cara Chin was sixth in the 50 free with a time of 24.94.

Freshman Matthew Oevermann placed second in the 1650 free with a time of 17:23.05 and also earned a sixth place finish in the 400 IM at 4:20.77. Freshman Alek Argueta earned a sixth place finish of 59.51 in the 100 breast while , going 59.51 in the 100 breast while senior Michael Glover placed sixth in the 50 free at 21.58.

The team of freshman Kate Russell, Hartsell, freshman Breely Peterson, and sophomore Sam Rao placed third in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:03.88 Glover, Argueta, freshman Caleb Liles, and freshman Dylan Neumann palced fifth with a time of 3:35.98. 

The final day of the Trintiy Invitational will take place tomorrow as the Pirates look to continue to put forward some great swims.
