Russell Sets New School Record in 500 Free on First Day of Trinity Invite

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Southwestern University men's and women's swimming team competed at the Trinity Invitational on the campus of Palo Alto College on Friday evening.

Freshman Kate Russell set a new school record with a tremendous performance in the 500 free, placing sixth overall with a time of 5:17.63. The Pirates 200 free relay team of freshman Rehgan Hartsell, sophomore Sam Rao, freshman Breely Peterson, and junior Cara Chin placed third overall with a time of 1:39.14.

On the men's side, junior Peter Robinson placed fifth in the 500 free with a time of 4:45.26. 

Southwestern returns to the pool tomorrow for day two of the Trinity Tiger Invitational.
