Southwestern splits Saturday's tri-meet

MIDLAND, Texas – The Southwestern women's swimming team split a pair of competitions at Saturday's tri-meet. The Pirates defeated Wayland Baptist, 126-114, but dropped a 156-98 decision to Texas-Permian Basin.

Southwestern picked up a pair of individual victories during the event.

Madison Doty won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.44, while Erika Dubros was first to the wall in the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 25.69 seconds.

Meanwhile, four Bucs earned runner-up finishes.

Brielle Adolph was runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley, as she hit the wall in 4:59.02. Kenly Gaynor finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:24.72) and Marissa Rosa was runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.00). Sam Rao also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.43.

The Pirates will prepare for the SCAC Championships, which are scheduled to take place Feb. 8-11 in Lewisville.
