Softball Suffers First Season Loss To The Bulldogs
SEGUIN, Texas -- Facing their toughest competitor of the year, Southwestern Softball fell in tonight's doubleheader against the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference defending champs, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs,by scores of 3-4 and 1-7. 
 
the losses broke the Pirate Softball's team's 6-0 winning streak. The first game against TLU was a battle. The first two innings both the Pirate's and Bulldog's strong defense kept both teams from reaching home plate. It wasn't until the bottom of the third the Bulldogs were able to reach home on and score on an error.  
 
Starting the fourth inning, both Jordan Farbe and Katie Bricar answered back with two runs in the top of the fourth and fifth. TLU was able to tie up the game in the bottom of the sixth, making the score 3-3. 
 
In the seventh inning Kaitlynn Copher was able to score one more run for the Pirates; however, the Bulldogs scored two runs ending the first game 3-4.  Lindsey Longuet threw six strikeouts for the Pirates. 
 
In the second game, Kealie House was able to score the first run for the Pirates in the top of the second, however, with two runs answered back at the bottom of the second, TLU's Madisyn Cates hit a home run with two teammates on bases, making the game 1-6. 
 
With a huge lead early in the game, the Bulldogs held the Pirates to no more runs for the rest of the game. In the bottom of the sixth TLU tacked on one final run ending the last game 1-7. 
 
The Pirates will continue the series against the Bulldogs in a doubleheader Saturday, March 2, at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. in Georgetown.
