Softball splits day two; takes series over Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southwestern dropped game one Sunday 5-1 but rallied back with a huge 14-0 run rule win in game two to complete their series against Trinity. 

GAME 1: SOUTHWESTERN 1 - TRINITY 5

The Tigers pounced on Southwestern early, posting four runs in the first inning and held the Pirates scoreless until the fifth inning. Grace Phelps' sacrifice fly drove home Mary Alex Krosby to get the Pirates on the board. 

Taylor Curtis led in game one at the plate, going 2-3. Lindsey Longuet suffered the loss on the mound. 

GAME 2: SOUTHWESTERN 14 - TRINITY 0

Roles reversed in game two as SU was red-hot to start the game, blasting Trinity with three runs in the first, six in the second and five in the third. 

Nadia Netek was outstanding on the mound, giving up just three hits in the complete game shutout. 

Celeste Silvas and Katie Bricarell both went 3-3 from the plate with Bricarell driving home a Southwestern record-tying seven RBIs including a two homeruns. Phelps was 2-2 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. 

The Pirates move to 17-10 on the year and 6-6 in the SCAC after the weekend. They remain on the road to face #2 Texas Lutheran University for a double header Friday beginning at 4 pm.
