Meyer's Dominance Earns SCAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - After a stellar week during the Southwestern University softball's teams trip to Florida, sophomore right-hander Bailey Meyer was named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last weekend.

Meyer racked up three wins this week with an 0.39 ERA in 18.0 innings of work as the Pirates went 4-0. Of the three games she appeared, she tossed two complete games and had a perfect game into the sixth inning against Bridgewater State. She had 31 strikeouts and allowed just one earned run.

After earning a complete game 10-2 (5) win over Adrain, including seven strikeouts, Meyer came in relief on Saturday, down 3-0 to Mount Union after one inning of play. Meyer proceeded to allow no runs on four hits and struck out 11 batters as Southwestern stormed back to win 6-3.

In the finale against Bridgewater State, Meyer earned a complete game shutout, allowing no runs on four hits and striking out 13 to complete the Pirates perfect weekend on the east coast.

For the season, Meyer has really come into her own as of late and leads the SCAC in innings pitched (41.0), wins (6), strikeouts (49) and complete games (5) and lowered her ERA to 2.90.

Southwestern prepares to open SCAC play this weekend beginning on Saturday as they travel to Kerrville for a weekend series against Schreiner. First pitch of doubleheader is scheduled for 1 PM.
